None Dare Call It Conspiracy

Speaking of Mormons I found a couple of very interesting clips. One was a youtube video that started off with LDS President Thomas Monson stating in April 2008 that:

"We’ve been placed on earth in trouble times. We live in a complex world with currents of conflict everywhere to be found. Political Machinations ruin the stability of nations." Then it defines Machinations as "a scheming or crafty action or artful design intended to accomplish some usually Evil design."

He talks about a secret combination whose objective is to get power and gain. The book he recommended, None Dare Call It Conspiracy has some very interesting quotes:

Federalist Papers

Speaking of the Founding Fathers, let’s have a look at the Federalist Papers to discern what their intent really was in establishing this magnificent document, the Constitution.

Martin Luther King had a dream that the constitution would be more than a nice piece of paper on the wall. His dream was that the constitution would be lived not just talked about. All people are created equal. Period. All people have a say in the governance of a democratic nation. Period.

Privatizing Energy

Citizens for public power is a coalition opposed to the privatization of natural resources. They have many valid concerns as to why our natural resources should remain publicly accountable in a democratic nation. http://www.citizensforpublicpower.ca/

Once again it is about extremism. Extreme Capitalism is no better than Hard-line Communism or Imperialism for that matter which is what the U.S. rose up to oppose. Or did they just fight for the right to be Imperialists not Colonialists? Somehow that’s not what I see the founding fathers had as their intent or their definition of liberty and providing for the common defense. Che said that Imperialism is the last stage of Capitalism. Indeed it is.

Extremism on either side should be shunned. Privatizing everything and removing public accountability is unwise just as having everything owned and controlled by the state. A democratic nation strives to give more control to the people not a handful of dictators.

Polygamy

Let’s start off by clarifying that Warren Jeffs is not a Mormon nor does he represent the Mormon faith. He calls himself a Fundamentalist Mormon but that is very far from the truth. They started a new church, used the Mormon name (LDS) and added Fundamentalist to their name to break the copyright and create further confusion.

Nevertheless, it is so different form the real Mormon Church it should be called a different name. Mind you FLDS is a good name for them if the F stands for something other than Fundamentalist.

Thomas S. Monson is a Mormon and he does represent that faith. Before him it was Gordon B. Hinkley. You might have seen him on Larry King. Larry King married a Mormon although he did not convert himself.

I’m going to address Jeffs' polygamy and LDS polygamy in two separate categories because they are very different. Warren Jeffs is a wacko: http://www.cbc.ca/fifth/bustupinbountiful/

Not long ago there was a polygamous compound in Texas raided. Jeffs' compound in Bountiful Utah, the one in Idaho as well as the polygamist compound in Creston, B.C. are all connected.

The abominable thing about the practice is the way they do it. Arranged marriages, forced marriages and marriages of very young girls to very old men is wrong. Very wrong. The three American groups love Canada because in Canada the age of consent is or was 14. That way an old man could marry a 14 year old girl, have sex with her and the law could do nothing to stop it. I think the intent of the law was age of consent between two 14 year olds not a 14 year old girl and a 44 year old man. Nevertheless, I think it’s finally been bumped back up to 16 in Canada.

There are a lot of other things wrong with these four compounds that make them very extreme and different from Mormons. Mitt Romney is a Mormon although he is not the leader of the church just a member of the church. I was less than thrilled when he mocked Hillary Clinton’s desire for affordable health care. Ezra Taft Benson was another Mormon who was a leader of the church and involved in American politics. He wrote a very interesting book called "An Enemy Hath Done this" which I will site later.

Mormon polygamy I’m hesitant to touch with a ten foot pole. Yes at one time the Mormon Church practiced and taught polygamy. Claiming it as part of their religious beliefs they went to jail and appealed the matter to the U.S. Supreme Court and lost.

The Supreme Court first ruled that the State could in fact create a law that prohibits polygamy if it chose to do so but they could not confiscate all that church’s property and belongings as a consequence for breaking that law. However it appears that in the end the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Edmunds-Tucker Act was constitutional, and that the federal government could repeal the LDS church charter and dissolve the church. http://www.religioustolerance.org/lds_poly.htm

Since Mormons believe in honoring and sustaining the law, they caved in and stopped the practice. Some, refusing to respect the leaders of the church broke away and kept on practicing it in a very unsanctioned manner. The book of Mormon speaks out clearly against the unauthorized practice of polygamy calling it an abomination.

Personally, I’d go to jail for someone’s right to be Catholic or their right to be Muslim, Jewish or their right to be Atheist. However, I wouldn't go to jail for someone’s right to practice polygamy. That is not something I want to go down in history as fighting for. Polygamy is always problematic. It’s not always abusive but it is always problematic.

Biblically, Jacob was tricked into polygamy. He made a deal with Rachel’s father to work for him seven years for the right to marry his daughter. When the seven years was up, Rachel’s father said he could marry Rachel but he couldn’t let his younger daughter get married before his older daughter gets married. He said if he married Rachel’s older sister Leah and worked for him another seven years, he could then marry the woman he originally wanted to marry. Abraham, Jacob’s grandfather was a polygamist. Abraham married Sarah but Sarah couldn’t have children so Sarah suggested Abraham marry her handmaiden so they could have a child. Then after it was done, human nature took over and Sarah became jealous.

David and Solomon both were polygamists yet both got completely carried away and had many concubines that were not authorized. The movie the King and I is another example of polygamy. I’m told some Muslims practice polygamy.

Anyways just because it was done in the past doesn’t make it right. I could go on for days about my concerns about the problematic nature of polygamy and strange diversions of the practice. Suffice it to say that I have a problem with it and Mormons do not practice it today.

Gordon B. Hinkley was not a polygamist. Before he died and shortly after his wife passed away I remember hearing him talk about his wife. He said he married the woman of his dreams and now that she has passed on she has once again become the woman of his dreams. How can you get mad at a guy like that? I have a great deal of respect for Gordon B. Hinkley.

Nevertheless, the doctrine still exists and many believe the day will come when polygamy will be reintroduced. Isaiah talks about the day when seven women will cleave unto one man. The way I see it is a man has an affair on his wife and then brings that affair home to live in the same house. That is the only way I can see it.

I find it hard to believe that many who did practice polygamy in the early days of the church said they did not want to originally and would have rather died than live that law. I find that hard to believe when I see how eagerly they embraced the practice. Hyrum certainly wasn’t candid with his feelings about the practice. It was like a kid in a candy store. I have a hard time with terms like "I preached to her the doctrine of polygamy and she embraced it." This is why many good people turn away and many wackos are drawn like a magnet secretly hoping to one day live the polygamy dream so to speak. For me that is not a dream, it's a nightmare.

Privatizing the Military

We’ve talked about how the U.S. has started to privatize their prisons and how that has demonstrated to be problematic. When a prison is mandated to make a profit there is no incentive to rehabilitate prisoners.

The prison makes more money when the prisons are full or over crowded. A privatized prison has no public accountability and no incentive to prevent inmate violence. Giving inmates the option of joining a work party in exchange for early release is not a bad thing. However, when it is all about the money and the prisons make more money the more inmates are in work camps, the whole system becomes problematic. It is a conflict of interest.

Now, on to the military. I joked about privatizing the police force or military. A military or police force mandated to make a profit is nothing but problematic. If a military private corporation makes more money when they are engaged in war, then there is no incentive for that military to make peace. The business of war becomes a bad business.

Evidently the U.S. has rapidly started privatizing their military and 911 has been the catalyst to that practice. The giant leap forward started the day before 911 with Donald Rumsfeld’s bold announcement about the Pentagon.

We’ve already talked about how Donald Rumsfeld said the day before 911 that the greatest enemy is from within and how that enemy is the Pentagon bureaucracy in that the Pentagon can not account for 25% of what it spends and was already missing $2.3 trillion before 911. Privatizing only means zero % public accountability and huge raises for their friends who become CEOs of these private military corporations.

However, what we failed to mention was that the purpose of Rumsfeld’s dramatic news release was to set in motion their plan to privatize the military. He was addressing pentagon officials in charge of overseeing the high stake business of defense contracting – Dick Cheney’s Halliburtons, DyneCorps, and Bechtels as well as former corporate executives from Enron, Northrop, Grumman, General Dynamics and Aerospace Corporation. Enron? The U.S. government is tied to that scandal which is beginning to look a lot like AIG.

Speaking of Enron, let’s talk about Thomas White who served as senior executive of Enron before it collapsed due to fraud. In 1990 White entered the private sector as Vice-Chairman of Enron Energy Services (E.E.S.), a subsidiary of the Enron Corporation responsible for providing energy outsource solutions. White also served as a member of Enron's Executive Committee and was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Enron Operations Corporation.

Thomas White was appointed Secretary of the Army on May 31 2001, three months before 911 and was responsible for all matters relating to Army manpower, personnel, reserve affairs, installations, environmental issues, weapons systems and equipment acquisition, communications, and financial management. He led a work-force of over one million active duty, National Guard and Army Reserve soldiers and 270,000 civilian employees, he had stewardship over 15 million acres (60,000 km²) of land and an annual budget of nearly $70 billion.

White was immediately embroiled in controversy regarding his previous employment with Enron and what he may have known about some of Enron's questionable business practices. His retention of a sizable amount of Enron stock fueled the perception of a conflict interest.

After his conviction Kenneth Lay from Enron said: "I firmly believe I'm innocent of the charges against me," Lay said following the hearing. "We believe that God in fact is in control and indeed he does work all things for good for those who love the lord." Yet jurors found through their verdict that both men had repeatedly lied to cover a vast web of unsustainable accounting tricks and failing ventures at Enron. Pimping the church for persona gain - deranged.

Nevertheless, the wheels were set in motion in September 2000 when the Project for a New American Century released a report called Rebuilding America’s Defenses: Strategy, Forces and Resources for a New Century. This report concluded that "the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor."

The Star reports that this facility is run by a private company run by a former CIA director, Cofer Black. Run by the CIA. The same group that produced Operation Northwoods and has a long history of dealing guns for drugs. Sending Canadian Troops here becomes a matter of National Security in training them to perform a false flag terrorist attack on Canada to fund their corporate agenda.

He unilaterally spent $85 billion to help his friends without going through congress? Conflict of interest, abuse of power.

Interesting indeed. The past practice is privatize everything and throw away public accountability. With the news of privatized prisons I joked about privatizing the military. Guess what. They already did. Blackwater. I can’t believe it. I just got the book so will have a read before I post a critique of that insanity.
