St Mark’s Summit

Speaking of Howe Sound Crest trail, yesterday I climbed St Mark’s Summit. That’s the first peak along the trail on your way to Unnecessary Mountain and the Lions from Cypress. Beautiful view of Howe Sound and the Lions.

Lots of snow on the Summit but most of the trail was bare.

There’s a big ravine between St Mark’s summit and Unnecessary Mountain but once you’re on top of Unnecessary Mountain the Lions are right there.

A sign said it was an hour to Unnecessary mountain from St Mark’s Summit. From Cypress getting to the Lions is longer but not as verticle. From Lion’s bay it's a shorter route but very verticle.

If Baker is the crown jewel of Washington State, then the Lions are the crown jewel of Vancouver: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_NeFrQAF1Q
